Kabul, October 13, 2026 — Sayed Karim Hashemi, president of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said trade agreements and memoranda of understanding worth nearly $1 billion were reached during the fifth Imam Abu Hanifa National and International Exhibition in Kabul.

According to the Bakhtar news agency, Khaama Press and DID Press, Hashemi announced at the closing ceremony that the agreements had a combined value of approximately $934.8 million.

The exhibition opened in Kabul on October 7. Organizers said it featured around 700 booths where 323 domestic and foreign companies presented their products and services. Traders, investors and business representatives from about 20 countries participated.

Afghan officials and organizers also claimed that approximately one million people visited the exhibition. They described its purpose as introducing Afghan products, expanding regional trade and strengthening links with overseas businesses.

Earlier reports from the exhibition described memoranda worth nearly $400 million between private-sector representatives of Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and India, and separate memoranda worth $451.8 million between Afghan and Iranian businesses.

The $934.8 million figure is the announced combined value of agreements and memoranda. It should not be mistaken for foreign investment already received by Afghanistan or trade that has already taken place. The actual economic effects will depend on whether the agreements are implemented.
