Bangkok, October 13, 2026 — The International Monetary Fund projects global economic growth of 3.1% this year in its latest World Economic Outlook. It expects growth to reach 3.4% in 2027, although economic conditions are likely to remain uneven across countries.
According to the IMF, investment in artificial intelligence-related infrastructure and technology is helping support some economies. Nevertheless, high energy prices, disruptions caused by conflict, rising debt and uncertainty in financial markets remain significant risks.
The fund also estimates global inflation of around 4.7% in 2026. Energy-importing and low-income countries could face relatively greater pressure.
These figures are forecasts, not outcomes already achieved. They could change as wars, prices and investment trends evolve.
