Peshawar, October 13, 2026 — The district administration has imposed Section 144 in Peshawar for seven days over security concerns, banning gatherings of five or more people, protests, sit-ins, rallies and processions.

According to Dawn, the deputy commissioner's order cited potential threats near sensitive locations and major roads. The display of weapons and possession of certain objects that could be used in violence were also prohibited in public places, with exemptions for law-enforcement personnel carrying out their duties.

Brief protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters against governor's rule were also reported at a few locations in Peshawar. Dawn said the gatherings drew limited numbers and that demonstrators dispersed in the presence of police.

The district administration said educational institutions would remain open on October 13, while TransPeshawar announced that BRT services had resumed normally. Social media claims of widespread armed fighting between soldiers and civilians in Peshawar have not been independently verified and should not be treated as established fact.
