Japanese telecommunications company KDDI and South Korean technology services provider LG CNS announced an agreement on October 14 to explore artificial intelligence and digital transformation projects in the Asia-Pacific region. The companies said they had signed a memorandum of understanding setting out areas for cooperation.
Potential work includes AI-enabled business systems, smart-city technology, communications infrastructure, cybersecurity and managed digital services. The partnership could combine LG CNS's software and data capabilities with KDDI's telecommunications expertise.
The companies identified Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and China as priority markets. Individual projects, contract values and commercial returns will depend on subsequent negotiations and implementation rather than the memorandum alone.
