Kabul — Hurriyat Radio Urdu reported on October 9, 2026 that business meetings in Kabul led to the signing of commercial agreements and memoranda of understanding with a combined value of 21.58 billion afghanis between private-sector representatives of Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and India.
According to Hurriyat Radio, these commercial contacts cover industry, mining, energy, healthcare, food products and other sectors. However, the total value of 21.58 billion afghanis and the details of all the individual agreements have not yet been independently confirmed by other sources.
The outlet also said that a day earlier, separate agreements worth 29.4 billion afghanis had been reported between Afghan and Iranian private-sector businesses in various fields. That sum should likewise be treated as a figure attributed to the cited media report.
According to the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment's website, the fifth National and International Imam Abu Hanifa Exhibition was scheduled to take place at Chaman-e-Hozori in Kabul from October 7 to 13, 2026, with the aim of expanding commercial ties among domestic and regional traders, manufacturers and investors.
Signing memoranda of understanding does not necessarily mean that projects worth the full announced sums have already been implemented. More information from the relevant business institutions will be needed to assess implementation, actual investment and commercial progress.
