Quetta — Eleven workers abducted from Duki district in Balochistan around two weeks earlier have been released. Provincial Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqaat told Dawn that the freed workers were safe and had been taken to a secure location.

According to the report, armed men attacked a construction company's camp on September 26, set vehicles on fire and abducted 12 workers. One worker was subsequently killed, while local elders and officials were reportedly involved in contacts aimed at securing the release of the remaining eleven.

Legal responsibility for the incident can be determined only after the suspects are identified and investigations completed. Continued measures are necessary to protect workers and construction projects.
