Kabul — According to an October 7 statement from the office of Afghanistan's deputy prime minister for economic affairs, the National Procurement Commission approved 16 projects with a combined value exceeding seven billion afghanis. The meeting reviewed 34 proposals, sending some back for amendments or fresh bidding.
Approved work reportedly includes parking construction at the Islam Qala customs station in Herat, a water pipeline in Kabul, road rehabilitation in Logar and Badakhshan, technical transport equipment, a terminal in eastern Kabul and hospitals in several provinces. According to the government statement, the projects will be financed from domestic funds.
These announcements date from October 7 and were included in an October 10 development review. Approval does not mean construction has finished or immediate public benefits have materialised. Monitoring completion and transparent procurement remain necessary.
