Islamabad — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed federal ministries at a meeting of the Digital Nation Pakistan programme to complete measures for timely provision of relevant government information to a national digital platform. Government plans identify a central national data centre as important for improving services to citizens.
According to an October 8 Radio Pakistan report, the meeting discussed digital services in key sectors, including health and agriculture, nationwide medical records and the monitoring of medicine supplies. The prime minister said effective information sharing among institutions could also help reduce administrative inefficiency.
These are plans and official directions, not confirmation that all government records have been digitised. Protecting citizens' personal information, ensuring access is permission-based and preventing misuse of data are essential requirements for a national data system.
