Japanese trading and investment company ITOCHU said on October 14 that it had received recognition in the Best in Artificial and Generative Intelligence category of IDC's 2026 Future Enterprise Awards. The company linked the honour to digital innovation in energy storage operations.
The award concerned integrated control and forecasting technologies used in grid-scale battery storage systems. Such tools can support more efficient scheduling of charging and discharging, manage demand fluctuations and make better use of available power.
The recognition relates to a particular business implementation. It should not be interpreted as proof that every battery project operated by ITOCHU, or Japan's wider electricity network, has achieved the same performance results.
