According to sources, England captain Harry Brook tore into Sri Lanka's attack at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in the ODI tri-series, hitting 202 off 116 balls with 21 fours and 10 sixes to become the first England batter to score an ODI double century.

Brook reached 200 in just 114 balls, beating the previous record of 117 deliveries set by India's Shubman Gill. He also overtook Ben Stokes's 182 against New Zealand in 2023 to post England's highest individual ODI score.

The 27-year-old is now only the third player, after Virender Sehwag and Chris Gayle, to score both a double and a triple century in international cricket. His was the 14th double century in men's ODIs.

Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis's decision to bowl first backfired. Tom Banton (51) and Ben Duckett (29) put on 74 before Brook and Joe Root (69) added 159 for the third wicket. Brook and Will Jacks then piled on 185 off just 77 balls to take England past 400. Jacks finished unbeaten on 60 off 33, and Brook fell to Janith Liyanage off the final ball of the innings.

The Tribune says England's total is the highest in an ODI in Pakistan, surpassing the hosts' 375-3 against Zimbabwe in 2015, and England's fourth-highest in the format. Dunith Wellalage was Sri Lanka's best bowler with 2-56.
