Dawat University founders reject Taliban-appointed leadership

The founders and administrators of Dawat University say Taliban authorities have taken control of the private university in Kabul and appointed new leaders without their consent. Amu TV reported that the university said in a statement it was suspending its academic, educational and administrative activities until its legal status is resolved. Three sources, including lecturers and students, told Amu TV, however, that the university remains open and classes are continuing under the newly appointed administration. The sources said the university president and three vice presidents were removed and replaced by officials linked to the Higher Education Ministry. No Taliban institution, including the ministry, has publicly commented on the changes. The university administration described the move as an intervention without legal or administrative justification. The dispute comes less than two weeks after the operating licence of Khatam al-Nabieen University was cancelled.
