Amu TV reported, citing four sources, that a UNICEF-supported enrolment process for girls in grades 10 through 12 at six schools in Kabul has been halted. The reported programme involved registration, an examination and a six-month educational course. Sources told Amu TV that a delegation linked to the Taliban Education Ministry and intelligence agency instructed the schools not to register girls above sixth grade. The Taliban authorities have not publicly commented on the specific programme or explained why it was stopped. Formal secondary education for girls in Afghanistan has remained closed since September 2021, while women have been barred from universities since December 2022.
