The Nasdaq Composite hit a new intraday record on September 22 as U.S. technology shares rose and investors reacted to hopes of possible talks between the United States and Iran.
Reuters reported that the Nasdaq was up about 0.4% during the session, while the S&P 500 was little changed and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was slightly lower.
Alphabet helped lead gains in large technology shares. Meta also edged higher after a strong rise in the previous session.
Investor sentiment was also supported by a decline in oil prices after reports raised hopes that tensions affecting Gulf energy flows could ease.
Brent crude fell below $100 a barrel during the session, adding to expectations that lower energy costs could reduce some inflation pressure.
The figures were intraday levels and could change before the market close.
