Survivors of Nepal's catastrophic flood are returning to communities where homes, shops and familiar landmarks have been buried or swept away.
Reuters reported from Betrawati and surrounding districts that the late-August disaster, linked to a glacier collapse near the Nepal-China border, left entire neighbourhoods under mud and debris. The report cited at least 1,386 deaths and more than 5,000 people still missing on the Nepal side at the time of publication.
Families continue to search for relatives and personal belongings while authorities carry out recovery and identification work. The scale of the damage has also raised difficult questions about where some communities can safely rebuild.
