OIC contact group on Afghanistan to meet on sidelines of UN General Assembly

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation will hold a meeting of its Contact Group on Afghanistan in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The OIC General Secretariat said members of the Afghanistan contact group would participate as part of a wider schedule of ministerial contact groups and specialised committees. Further details of the agenda have not yet been released. The group first met on the sidelines of the 80th UN General Assembly in September 2025, when participants stressed practical support and meaningful dialogue aimed at promoting stability in Afghanistan.
