Pakistan plans to seek an expansion of its 30 billion yuan currency-swap line with China when the facility comes up for renewal in 2027, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb told Reuters.

The finance minister said the existing swap line has been fully drawn and that the size of any requested increase has not yet been decided. He also said Pakistan expects a response within two months to a proposed $10 billion exchange-stabilisation facility from the United States.

Separate discussions with US financing agencies could support aircraft purchases and a planned oil-refinery upgrade programme, according to the Reuters interview. Aurangzeb said the government continues to monitor the impact of elevated oil prices and prolonged Middle East disruption on Pakistan's growth outlook.
