Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has formed a three-member committee to investigate alleged irregularities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ apostille and document-attestation system.
Reports say Petroleum Secretary Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh will convene the committee, joined by Law Secretary Raja Naeem Akbar and Special Finance Secretary Qumar Sarwar Abbasi.
The committee has been asked to examine possible misuse or irregularities and the role of courier services involved in the process, and to report within two weeks.
The decision to investigate does not establish wrongdoing. Any finding on the existence, nature or responsibility for irregularities depends on the inquiry.
