Taiwan's export orders exceeded $100 billion in a single month for the first time in August as demand for artificial-intelligence hardware, high-performance computing and cloud services remained strong.
Reuters reported that orders rose 71.4% from a year earlier to a record $103 billion, beating economists' expectations and marking the 19th consecutive monthly increase.
Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs said telecom product orders rose 100.5% year on year, while electronic product orders increased 83.9%.
The island is home to TSMC and a dense network of semiconductor, server and electronics suppliers, making its export-order data an important indicator of global technology demand.
The ministry expects September orders to rise by between 50.7% and 55.1% from a year earlier and said full-year export orders could reach $1.1 trillion.
Those forward figures are official forecasts, not guaranteed outcomes. Global trade policy, geopolitical risks and changes in AI investment could still affect demand.
