Afghanistan's Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul Mateen Qani says recent meetings in Kabul with senior Turkish and Qatari security delegations included discussions on tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, developments in Iran and wider regional security.
Ibrahim Kalin, head of Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization, and Qatar's deputy national security adviser Hamad bin Khamis Al-Kubaisi held separate meetings with Afghan officials in Kabul in recent days. Afghanistan's Defence Ministry had confirmed the meetings, saying relations and security cooperation were among the subjects discussed.
Qani said the sides also stressed cooperation against terrorism and drug trafficking and efforts to support regional stability. He said continued joint efforts to address differences between Kabul and Islamabad were discussed.
The contacts come as Afghanistan-Pakistan relations remain strained over border security and militant violence in Pakistan. Islamabad accuses armed groups of operating from Afghan territory, allegations Afghan authorities reject.
