Nisshin — Afghanistan’s Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket quarter-final against India was abandoned without a toss on Monday, September 28, after persistent rain left the outfield unplayable.

AFP reported that India progressed to the semi-finals under Asian Games competition rules for abandoned knockout matches, with the higher-seeded side advancing. Afghanistan’s men’s cricket campaign therefore ended without a ball being bowled in the quarter-final.

Afghanistan player Mohammad Akram told AFP that the team had wanted to play and that the players were disappointed by the rain.

This is a result update to Margalla News’ earlier preview of the same quarter-final, rather than a separate duplicate story.
