Ariana Afghan Airlines has added a chartered Boeing 737-300 cargo aircraft to support the movement of Afghan commercial goods to international markets.
The aircraft arrived at Kabul International Airport and can carry around 17 tonnes of cargo per flight. Afghanistan’s General Directorate of State-Owned Corporations said Ariana signed a one-year agreement with UAE-based Air Charter Express to operate the aircraft.
Officials said the cargo service is intended to give Afghan traders a faster and more organised way to move products abroad. Ariana’s management has also linked the service to plans to expand the airline’s cargo network and strengthen Afghanistan’s air-transport capacity.
The additional aircraft gives exporters another freight option at a time when reliable transport links are important for moving time-sensitive and higher-value Afghan products to regional and international destinations.
