Afghan economic authorities have announced the start of a new industrial township project in Balkh province near the Hairatan two-way intersection.
The project is named the Imam Shaqiq Balkhi Industrial Township and is intended to provide additional space for industrial production and investment in northern Afghanistan.
Officials say the planned township is designed to strengthen links between manufacturers, domestic production and markets. Its location near Hairatan also places it in an area connected to one of Afghanistan’s important northern trade corridors.
The announcement forms part of a wider government programme to expand industrial infrastructure in several provinces. Authorities have presented dedicated industrial areas as a way to support local production and employment. The Balkh project is at an early development stage, with the foundation laid and subsequent construction and investment still to follow.
