The US National Hurricane Center warned on October 9 that Hurricane Isaias was approaching the Florida Panhandle and Alabama coast.
The agency reported maximum sustained winds of around 120 mph and warned of life-threatening storm surge and destructive conditions. Coastal residents were urged to heed official guidance.
