Tashkent — Afghanistan's Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, Mawlawi Ataullah Omari, called for expanded agricultural trade and joint investment between the two countries at an international forum in Uzbekistan. He invited foreign investors to explore opportunities in Afghan agricultural businesses.
According to an October 8 Pajhwok report, the minister identified modern irrigation, agricultural machinery, local processing, packaging and development of agricultural value chains as priority sectors. He said adding value to raw products within the country could increase jobs and farmers' incomes.
At this stage, the remarks constitute an investment invitation and proposal for cooperation. The report did not independently confirm any specific project value, final agreement or factory opening.
