Karachi, October 13, 2026 — Section 144 restrictions have been imposed in Karachi Division, prohibiting protest gatherings, demonstrations, marches and sit-ins involving more than five people until October 20.

According to Dawn, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi issued the notification. Officials cited concerns over traffic disruption, difficulties for emergency vehicles and public safety risks arising from demonstrations on major roads, intersections and thoroughfares.

The notification directs relevant police officials to enforce the restrictions. Such measures apply for a specified period under an administrative order and should not be interpreted as a complete shutdown of all activities or businesses across the city.

Residents should check the latest instructions from local authorities before travelling to or attending any gathering, because restrictions may be changed or extended through a new official order.
