An October 2026 World Bank regional economic assessment finds that Pakistan has a growing pool of technology workers but faces infrastructure constraints as businesses explore artificial intelligence. The report points to gaps in mobile broadband use and the availability of dependable electricity, which can limit the deployment of digital tools outside better-served areas.

Pakistan is reported to produce roughly 75,000 information technology graduates annually, while its ICT services exports reached an estimated $4.6 billion in fiscal year 2025–26. Yet smaller businesses may struggle to use AI products without reliable connectivity, affordable electricity and data relevant to their local languages and customers.

The World Bank identifies opportunities for lower-cost and smaller AI systems in areas such as farming, education and healthcare. Turning this potential into broad gains will require investment in basic infrastructure, skills and locally relevant services.
