ROME: According to UEFA, Real Madrid scored three goals in the final eight minutes to beat Roma 4-3 in a dramatic Champions League Matchday 2 fixture on Wednesday, a comeback for José Mourinho's side against their coach's former club.
Marten de Roon put Roma ahead before Kylian Mbappé equalised on his 100th Champions League appearance. Donyell Malen then struck twice early in the second half to put the hosts 3-1 up.
Carlos Espí gave Madrid hope by prodding in from close range after goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini failed to hold an Endrick header. Endrick headed in from a corner shortly afterwards, and former Roma defender Antonio Rüdiger completed the turnaround from another Arda Güler set-piece.
Endrick was named Player of the Match.
Matchday 2 produced 78 goals in total, 46 of them on Wednesday alone, UEFA said. More on UEFA.
