ISLAMABAD: According to The Express Tribune, the Maldives team has arrived in Islamabad for the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group III, an international women's team tennis event to be played from October 21 to 24 at the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Tennis Complex.
Pakistan is hosting the competition for the first time, with eight nations taking part: Bahrain, Bhutan, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, the Maldives, Pakistan and Qatar.
PTF president Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and secretary general Colonel Zia-ud-Din Tufail, along with federation officials, received the Maldivian squad. The federation said hosting the event reflects its commitment to developing women's tennis and strengthening international sporting ties.
The tournament will give Pakistani players the chance to face foreign opposition at home, and the federation says arrangements are under way to receive the visiting teams and run the event smoothly.
