According to sources, the Foreign Office announced on Thursday that President Asif Ali Zardari will visit Germany from October 22 to 24, with a particular focus on trade and economic cooperation.
In a post on X, the FO said the president will meet the President of the Federal Republic of Germany as well as senior leadership and business leaders to discuss Pakistan-Germany relations, especially economic and trade ties.
The FO said the visit holds "special significance" as the two countries mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, established in 1951. According to the Tribune, Germany is Pakistan's largest trading partner in the European Union.
The report notes that the German ambassador this month called for trade diversification, more investment and business-to-business links, saying German firms are looking for new partners as they diversify supply chains. Textiles, engineering, pharmaceuticals and IT have been identified as potential areas for closer collaboration.
