Aston Villa ended Manchester City's perfect start to the Premier League season with a 2-1 win at Villa Park on Saturday, as Nicolas Jackson scored either side of an Erling Haaland header.

Enzo Maresca had become the first manager to win his first seven Premier League games in charge of a new club, but City have now lost at Villa Park in each of the past four seasons.

Jackson struck after six minutes, pouncing on a heavy touch by Marc Guehi and firing high past Gianluigi Donnarumma. City dominated much of the first half but were kept out by goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. Haaland levelled in the 52nd minute, heading in Iliman Ndiaye's cross for his 13th goal in 10 appearances this season.

On the hour, Jackson drilled home Ibrahim Mbaye's cross to restore Villa's lead, extending an upturn in form for Unai Emery's new-look side. The defeat gives Arsenal the chance to draw level on points at the top when they host Everton later on Saturday.
