Kandahar Governor Mullah Mohammad Shirin Akhund has urged the World Bank to expand work on major development projects in the province.

According to the provincial governor’s office, he met World Bank Country Director for Afghanistan Faris Hadad-Zervos and FAO representative Richard Trenchard. The meeting covered work in health, clean water, agriculture, employment and private-sector development.

The governor identified raising the Dahla Dam, continued support for Mirwais Regional Hospital, cold-storage facilities, check dams, markets for fresh and dried fruit and support for alternatives to narcotics cultivation among priority needs.
