Solar-powered water network serves nearly 280 families in Kunduz

A solar-powered water supply network has been completed and launched in Hajaran village of Imam Sahib district in Kunduz province. Bakhtar News reported on September 22 that nearly 280 families now have access to safe drinking water through the project. Solar power can help water systems operate with less dependence on conventional electricity supplies, an important consideration for rural communities. Similar small and medium water projects have been implemented in several Afghan provinces as authorities and aid partners work to expand access to safe water. The longer-term value of the Hajaran network will depend on maintenance, water quality and reliable operation. The project is a local example of combining basic public services with renewable energy infrastructure.
