Norway has contributed 15 million Norwegian kroner, equivalent to about $1.63 million, to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
OCHA said the new contribution would help sustain humanitarian assistance for people in need across Afghanistan. The Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund is a country-based pooled fund managed by OCHA and is used to finance coordinated and prioritised humanitarian response.
The fund was established in 2014 and channels donor contributions toward humanitarian organisations working on needs identified through the wider response system.
Norway’s latest contribution adds to resources available for humanitarian programmes inside Afghanistan. OCHA welcomed the funding and said it would support continued response activities for vulnerable communities facing humanitarian needs across different parts of the country.
