Oracle has sent a force-majeure notice related to a large data center project in New Mexico in an effort to preserve contractual protections against possible cost increases or delays, Bloomberg News reported, according to Reuters. Reuters said it could not independently verify Bloomberg's underlying report.
The project, known as Project Jupiter, is being developed by a unit linked to Blue Owl and is scheduled to come online in 2028. Force-majeure clauses are generally used to protect parties when events beyond their control interfere with contractual obligations.
Oracle told Reuters that Project Jupiter remains on its planned schedule. The company said notices of this kind are common in projects of this scale and do not by themselves establish a delay or change expected delivery.
Blue Owl also said the notice does not alter financial commitments to the multi-year project. Oracle shares fell after the report, highlighting investor sensitivity to the cost and financing risks surrounding large data center developments.
