US and China extend trade truce by two months after Trump-Xi talks

The United States and China agreed to extend their trade truce by two months, according to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The extension preserves a temporary pause in escalation as Washington and Beijing continue negotiations. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping also held high-level talks in Washington. The discussions did not remove broader differences involving tariffs, technology policy, artificial intelligence and Taiwan, but the extension gives both governments additional time to pursue a wider agreement.
