Dera Ismail Khan — Margalla News: At least 11 people were killed and 30 injured after an explosives-laden vehicle struck the Aman Mela police checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Police and rescue officials said the blast occurred at the checkpoint in the Darazinda area, and emergency teams transported the dead and injured to hospital. Some of the wounded were reported to be in critical condition.
Initial reports did not identify an immediate claim of responsibility. Later AP-based reporting said Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement.
That responsibility claim is being treated as a claim by the group, not as an independently established fact.
Local officials and rescue services confirmed the attack and the initial casualty figures, while investigations into the nature of the attack, those responsible and the full circumstances are continuing.
