Islamabad — Pakistan's Ministry of Economic Affairs says senior officials from the International Finance Corporation and World Bank discussed expanding private-sector investment and development cooperation in the country.
IFC Division Director Simon Andrews and World Bank Country Director for Pakistan Bolormaa Amgaabazar met Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema to discuss cooperation under the World Bank Group's 2026–35 Country Partnership Framework.
According to the official government statement, Pakistan welcomed a commitment to mobilise up to $2 billion annually under the framework. Priority areas discussed included small and medium-sized enterprises, public-private partnership projects and housing finance.
IFC expressed interest in the SME sector, while the government sought support for developing a stronger PPP pipeline and widening access to housing finance.
The $2 billion figure is an annual mobilisation ceiling or target, not a guaranteed cash transfer or investment already completed. Actual mobilisation will depend on projects, approvals and market conditions.
