A World Bank regional economic report released in October 2026 identifies Pakistan as one of the leading providers of digital services on online work platforms. Reporting on the study places Pakistan and Egypt among the top five suppliers across more than 2,700 skill categories, reflecting the countries' substantial freelance and technology workforces.
The report also cites approximately 75,000 IT graduates each year in Pakistan and ICT services exports estimated at about $4.6 billion in the 2025–26 fiscal year. The top-five description relates to specific online platform and skills measures and should not be interpreted as an across-the-board ranking of the entire global digital services industry.
The World Bank sees opportunities for Pakistan to apply artificial intelligence and smaller-scale digital technologies in businesses and public services. Better broadband, reliable electricity and supportive business conditions remain important to realising those gains.
