Pakistan's polio eradication programme reported its sixth case of 2026 on October 5, involving a seven-year-old child from Jamrud in Khyber district. Health authorities called for intensified vaccination in high-risk areas and further investigation. This was a previously announced case, not a new infection confirmed on October 14.

In Rawalpindi, officials had reported 53 dengue cases for the season as of October 10. Health teams were monitoring patients and undertaking surveillance and mosquito-control activities to curb transmission in affected neighbourhoods.

The federal government also introduced a national mental health policy covering 2026 through 2035 on October 1, with support from partners including the World Health Organization and UNICEF. The initiative seeks to improve access to mental health care, community support and coordinated treatment services.
