Afghan and Kazakh businesses signed two agreements for the supply of wheat during a commercial meeting in Herat, western Afghanistan. Kazakhstan's trade ministry said the combined value of the wheat contracts was approximately $11 million.
The parties also discussed sunflower oil shipments, with pricing reportedly agreed for a potential deal worth around $10 million. This separate development should not be presented as another fully executed wheat contract or automatically added to the total value of the signed agreements.
Kazakhstan's exports to Afghanistan during January–July 2026 were reported at approximately $215.6 million for flour and $122 million for wheat. The figures underscore Afghanistan's substantial agricultural trade links with Kazakhstan, particularly for staple food supplies.
