Paris Saint-Germain beat Manchester City 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday in the second round of the Champions League league phase. PSG said it was their first win at City's ground.
The holders were three goals up inside 32 minutes. Desire Doue opened the scoring on a fast break in the 13th minute, Ousmane Dembele headed in Doue's return pass two minutes later, and Vitinha added the third in the 32nd minute.
City fought back after the break. Erling Haaland headed in on 53 minutes before Maghnes Akliouche restored PSG's three-goal lead on 62 minutes, and Haaland struck again on 75 minutes. ESPN said the double made him City's record scorer in the competition, with 38 goals in 41 appearances.
City hit the woodwork twice and PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov denied Haaland a hat-trick. In stoppage time, City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved a PSG penalty.
According to AFP, it was City's first home match since the club was found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules. Former manager Pep Guardiola watched from the stands on his first return to the Etihad since leaving in May.
PSG top the league-phase table, while City are 17th. City host AEK Athens next Tuesday, when PSG welcome Barcelona.
