TECH DESK: According to Geo News, Apple's online store went offline briefly on the morning of Friday, October 16, ahead of iPhone Duo pre-orders, showing its familiar "be right back" message.
Pre-orders opened at 5am Pacific Time in the US through Apple's website and the Apple Store app, and launch-day delivery sold out within 15 minutes, confirming earlier expectations of tight supply and strong demand.
The iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable phone, with a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen when closed. It runs on the A20 Pro chip with iOS 27.1 and uses Touch ID instead of Face ID.
According to the report, prices start at $1,999 in the US and £1,999 in the UK, with storage from 256GB to 2TB. First deliveries arrive on October 23, when the phone also reaches Apple Stores in more than 70 countries, with a second wave on October 30. Geo says suppliers are reportedly expected to ship around 7 to 10 million units for the rest of 2026.
