KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has warned that parts of Karachi may see low gas pressure on Sunday because of scheduled maintenance on a 24-inch Qatar mainline in the Sher Shah area, The Express Tribune reported.

According to the utility's media alert, the shutdown runs from 10pm on Saturday until 9am on Sunday, October 18. SSGC said the work was timed for hours when domestic supply is normally suspended, but any overrun could reduce pressure in several neighbourhoods.

Areas that may be affected include Ittehad Town, Saeedabad, Naval Colony, Musharraf Colony and Mawach Goth in Baldia Town, and Gulshan-e-Bahar Colony, Gulshan-e-Zia Colony, Sector 16, Ghaziabad, Altaf Nagar, Mehran City and Ramzan Goth in Orangi Town.

The company said the SITE Industrial Area could also be hit if the work takes longer than planned, and apologised to consumers for any inconvenience.
