Ukrainian strikes set fires at the Petersburg Oil Terminal and the Ruchi oil depot in St. Petersburg on Sunday, according to St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov.

One person was killed and five were injured in the St. Petersburg attack, Beglov said. An Ozon logistics centre and a VK data centre were also targeted, and both companies confirmed they were hit.

Russia's Defence Ministry said 1,015 Ukrainian drones were neutralised or destroyed over 15 Russian regions, Crimea and the Black Sea. That figure is a Russian claim and has not been independently verified. The strike has been described as one of Kyiv's largest aerial attacks.

The timing followed US President Donald Trump's move on Friday to hold or waive planned new sanctions on Russia. Trump criticised Kyiv's strikes on Russian oil infrastructure and defended the move as preserving negotiations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was done with the October 11 energy ceasefire and that Russia had attacked Ukraine's energy, oil and gas sectors 76 times since it. The reporting does not establish that the sanctions move caused the strike.
