According to War Monitor, an alleged audio recording circulating on social media features a voice attributed to former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur sharply criticising Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Salman Akram Raja and demanding an apology. Geo News has also published details of a written statement by Gandapur making the same case.
'This party belongs to Imran Khan'
According to Geo News, Gandapur called Raja's recent remarks regrettable, irresponsible and damaging to the party's internal unity. He said the party belonged to Imran Khan and that no one had the authority to judge his political loyalty or hand out certificates of treason. Loyalty, he argued, should be measured by years of struggle and sacrifice, not by the preferences of a few individuals.
'If you have evidence, name them'
Raja had referred to 'undemocratic decision-makers' and an alleged conspiracy by a group. Gandapur challenged him to say who these people were and which lawmakers were trying to pick the provincial president or the next chief minister without the approval of Imran Khan or the political committee.
He also questioned the allegation that a group had cut contact with chief minister Sohail Afridi and his team, paving the way for an emergency and governor's rule, and asked who had ordered the investigation Raja mentioned and why the party knew nothing about it.
Questions over acting president
Gandapur prayed for the recovery of provincial president Junaid Akbar but asked where the formal notification was for the reported appointment of Ali Asghar Khan as acting president in his absence. He also demanded accountability for the role of some central office-bearers during the party's marches on Islamabad.
Audio not authenticated
War Monitor said the recording was shared by journalist Muhammad Faheem and also criticises Raja's past association with Nawaz Sharif. It said the authenticity of the recording, the identity of the speaker and the circumstances in which it was made have not been independently established. No response from Salman Akram Raja had been reported at the time of publication.
