TikTok removed 23,243,711 videos in Pakistan between April and June this year for violating its community guidelines, according to the company's second-quarter enforcement report released on Thursday. Worldwide, the platform took down more than 188.2 million videos over the same period.
The report said 99.7% of the videos removed in Pakistan were caught proactively, before any user reported them, and 94.5% were taken down within 24 hours of being posted. The removal rate in the country stood at 1.1%, and 519,075 videos were reinstated after further review.
Globally, TikTok also removed 146.8 million fake accounts and 26.8 million accounts suspected of belonging to children under 13 during the quarter. Sensitive or mature themes made up the largest share of removals at 19.5%, followed by mental and behavioural health content at 16.1%, body exposure and sexualised behaviour at 13.8%, and dangerous activities and challenges at 13.5%. Edited media and AI-generated content accounted for 1.8%.
The company says its quarterly report gives an overview of its moderation work, account enforcement and use of automated detection.
