Afghan businesses are presenting handwoven carpets, saffron and rose-based fragrance products at the ninth China International Import Expo in Shanghai, seeking deeper access to Chinese buyers and wider export markets.
According to sources, Qader Rauf Company vice president Hamed Rauf said the firm hoped to display 80 to 90 percent of its product line. The company employs 350 to 400 women and has attended every CIIE since 2018. It has exported about 6,500 square metres of handwoven carpets to China so far in 2026.
Farhad Omid of Jahan Saffron said China buys tonnes of saffron each year and that the expo offers Afghan producers a path into that market. Dara-e-Noor Rose Herbal Pharma of Nangarhar is taking part for the first time to link with international traders in rose products.
