Residents of Afghanistan's Logar province contributed about 8.5 million afghanis to the education sector during the months of Sunbula and Mizan this year, funding classroom and seminary construction, drinking-water wells, solar power systems and school furniture.
Shapoor Arab, spokesman for the Logar Provincial Education Directorate, said the donations helped furnish essential facilities for thousands of students in the provincial capital and districts. A plot of land was also donated in the same period for a school building.
Education officials said residents had already given roughly 10 million afghanis to Logar's education sector in the first four months of the year. The community contributions sit alongside government spending as a local push to expand school facilities.
