Iran has communicated a set of conditions to the United States through Qatar for ending the current conflict and potentially re-entering negotiations, according to Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Rezaei made the statement in an interview with Al Jazeera, while Pajhwok Afghan News separately reported the remarks on Sunday.

Rezaei said Tehran remained in contact with Qatar and was awaiting a response from US President Donald Trump. He described Iran’s conditions as including an end to the war on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian funds and an end to the naval blockade. He also referred separately to seven conditions for the start of negotiations but did not disclose all of them publicly.

The conditions were described by a senior Iranian official. Washington had not publicly accepted them, and no new negotiating format or ceasefire agreement had been announced.

Qatar has repeatedly played a mediation role in regional disputes and maintains working relationships with both Western governments and Iran. Rezaei’s account places Doha in the role of message carrier between Tehran and Washington. Pajhwok also noted that Qatar and Pakistan have been involved in efforts to revive diplomatic contacts after an earlier memorandum between the sides expired.

Rezaei paired his diplomatic comments with warnings about Iran’s military readiness. He said Tehran continued to prepare for the possibility of additional US strikes and argued that Iran’s military planning had changed after earlier rounds of fighting. No new US attack was confirmed in the reporting available at the time.

Al Jazeera’s reporting highlighted the dual character of the Iranian message: an expressed willingness to seek an end to the conflict while simultaneously maintaining a threatening military posture. A former Pentagon official interviewed by the network questioned whether Washington would see the conditions as a realistic opening, showing that the diplomatic meaning of the proposal remains contested.

The wider context includes months of confrontation that have disrupted energy markets, shipping and regional diplomacy. Countries including Qatar and Pakistan have sought channels that could reduce escalation.
