Construction has begun on four electricity projects in Kabul and Parwan with a combined value of 468 million afghanis, according to Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat. The work includes expansion of three substations and a 220-kilovolt transmission line linking Kabul’s Green Industries Park with Barikab Industrial Park in Parwan.
The utility says the projects are designed to strengthen transmission capacity, reduce pressure on parts of the grid and improve electricity supply for residential, commercial and industrial users. Work on the individual components is expected to take between one and two years, depending on the project.
DABS says the construction phase is expected to create about 500 jobs. The company also says more than 250 electricity projects are currently being implemented across Afghanistan, as authorities seek to expand and reinforce a system that continues to face supply and transmission constraints.
